Cindy’s Cue

Cindy decided to go with a white leather wrap for this ebony cue. The trim rings are tulipwood.

Bernard’s Cue

Made from a Davis full splice blank.

Two new additions to the shop.

Highlights from the next group of cues.

I happen to be working on three snakewood cues right now. The snakewood was especially nice in all three of the cues.  All of them are sold.

First step in coring the snakewood back. A nice clean bore in a very sensitive wood.

Stunning figure in this piece is amazing.

Jason Polk’s Refinish After

I did a lot of things on this restoration. I stripped the cue down to the wood and re-stained the birdseye maple. The ivory joint was cracked badly and need to be replaced. I sprayed eight coats of urethane enamel and buffed it out. A nice linen wrap with a smooth, tight press and things are looking good.

Jason Polk’s Refinish Before

Jason brought me a great old Tim Scruggs Cue for a refinish. I’ll show the results in my next post.

Allene’s Curly Maple Wonder Cue

Allene wrote me asking about making her an all curly maple cue and I was really into her design. This simple design becomes something really special when paired with some highly figured hard curly maple. This type of hard maple is not super abundant so I was delighted to have some suitable for her build. The chatoyance (striking three-dimensional appearance) of this cue is outstanding hence the wonder cue title. I have been build cues since 1995 and this was some of the best curly maple I have ever used.

Will’s Camphor Burl and Figured Big Leaf Maple Cue

Will picked out this great combination of woods. The big leaf maple hasn’t been stained and the chatoyance in truly awesome. Will also wanted to go with the all wood 12 slot ring and I think it looks great.

Hal’s Camphor Burl Cue

Just finished this cue up today. I really love this burl because of its color and figuring!

Camphor Burl and Big Leaf Maple

This cue is coming along nicely and I thought I would post some pictures of its progress. It features beautiful camphor burl and high figure big leaf maple. Everything has been cored to insure stability. You can notice a big color difference from the rough cut board to the sealed cue. By the time this cue is finished it will really pop in an amazing way.

This cue has been sold in case anyone was wondering. I do have a few more pieces of this exceptional burl in the shop.
